Dredge America has mobilized their Ellicott Series 1270 dredger and booster pump for the 380,000yd3 project
Rehoboth Beach DE – This past August an offshore storm badly eroded dunes protecting coastal Hwy 1 on the north side Indian River Bridge DE, and they had a breach.
The Statw closed Hwy 1 temporarily until seas settled, and then loaders cleared the road. The State issued an emergency RFP for dune & shoreline repair which was awarded to Dredge America.
Last week an Ellicott 1270 and 18BP began dredging inside the Indian River Bridge borrow area and is currently pumping sand onto the shoreline while dozers are building back the protective dunes.
The State of DE years back owned and operated Ellicott dredges and back than would have self-preformed a project like this one. Since than they lost experienced staffing and moved their dredging focus to smaller inner bay projects.
