The state Department of Environmental Protection on Friday issued permit modifications for a dredging project that had been halted earlier this week due to a spill of chemically treated water and sediment, and neighbors reported work has resumed.
“Equipment has been operating all day,” said Penny Beddia, 58, an Avalon resident who lives across 80th Street from the municipal marina where the dredging operation is being staged. “Water started running off the geotubes this afternoon.”
