For the second time since the dredge Illinois arrived in local waters, it has been forced to halt work on a beach fill project due to problems with its cutter head engine.
Business Administrator George Savastano reported to council Tuesday that the dredge had gone offline on Aug. 31 and been towed to a shipyard in Norfolk, Va., for repairs to the cutter head shaft. It is expected to resume work in the southern end of Sea Isle on Sept. 22.
