Russia’s dredging fleet built in soviet times features out-of-date characteristics and high degree of wear, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin as saying at the meeting of RF Government’s Marine Board Presidium held in Astrakhan.
“The significance of dredging operations can hardly be overestimated. The example of Volga-Caspian Seaway Canal shows that decreased width and depth of the canal prevent shipbuilding and oil processing companies from efficient functioning,” he said.
According to Rogozin, the plan for ordering dredgers till 2030 numbers 118 units. He emphasized that all projects included into the plan are focused on domestic companies including Krasnoye Sormovo (Nizhny Novgorod), Zelenodolsk shipyard named after ?.?. Gorky (Tatarstan), Zavod Gidromekhanizatsii (Rybinsk) and Onezhsky Shipyard (Petrozavodsk).
