Dewberry was selected by the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners to update key guidance documents for the Port of Long Beach’s engineering bureau to support the mission and objectives of its program management office (PMO), and to reflect recent changes to the port’s organizational structure and responsibilities.
The Port of Long Beach is implementing the largest and most complex capital development program (CDP) in its history. Dewberry will work with the PMO staff to organize and identify updates needed for the existing program delivery manual and engineering bureau’s guidelines for professional consulting services manual to reflect the recent reorganization. The firm will also make recommendations on alignment efforts required with the remaining engineering bureau manuals and procedural documents where key touch points are evident for positioning with the updated program delivery manual.
Additionally, the firm will develop an intuitive, interactive, and searchable web-based content platform for documenting the knowledge base of standard business procedures that are accessible and updateable in near-real-time. The platform will also house the updated program delivery manual and establish the framework for having all engineering bureau manuals and procedures online in the future.
Dewberry will conduct a business process review and assess system software and hardware to determine how to best design an integrated platform. As part of the contract, Dewberry will provide software services for an online web-based solution to store, manage, and organize procedural guidance documents and will provide as-needed technical support services for the implemented system and staff during system rollout, continuing post-implementation.
With annual trade valued at more than $180 billion, the Port of Long Beach is the second-busiest seaport in the United States.
