Derosier to Take Command of Vicksburg Corps of Engineers

The Vicksburg District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a Change of Command ceremony July 26 at 10 a.m. at the Vicksburg Convention Center.

Colonel John W. Cross will transfer command of the Vicksburg District to Colonel Michael C. Derosier. The public is invited to attend.

Major General Michael C. Wehr, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mississippi Valley Division commander, will officiate the ceremony.

The Vicksburg District encompasses a 68,000-square-mile area across portions of Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana that holds seven major river basins and incorporates approximately 460 miles of mainline levees.

The Vicksburg District has approximately 980 civilian employees with the primary mission of utilizing lakes, dams, levees and structures to assist with flood damage risk reduction.
