DEME had the honor of welcoming the Belgian Economic Mission, led by Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium, on board of its trailing suction hopper dredger ‘Congo River’ in Mumbai today. ‘Congo River’, the largest hopper in the DEME fleet, is carrying out dredging works in Mumbai.
DEME has been a trusted partner in India for over three decades, successfully carrying out port development, maintenance and land reclamation projects, with a dedicated local team.
During this week’s Economic Mission, DEME and its JV partner signed a letter of award with Indian engineering and construction company ITD Cementation for dredging and reclamation works in Vadhavan Port, which is located on India’s west coast in Maharashtra.
In addition to decades of dredging works, DEME’s well-established Shared Service Center in Chennai plays a vital role in our global operations, with a team of around 100 local employees.
We would like to thank the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Belgium in New Delhi, the Consulate General in Mumbai, the Belgian Foreign Trade Agency (BFTA), Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), the Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX) and hub.brussels for their collaboration in taking Indo-Belgian ties forward.
