DEME Contributes to Strategic Maintenance at the Bintulu and Samalaju Ports in Malysia

Posted on December 5, 2025

DEME is proud to be contributing to the 2025 Maintenance Dredging Works for Bintulu Port and Samalaju Industrial Port. This is a key initiative awarded by Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) to HMN Nadhir Sdn. Bhd. in Sarawak (Malaysia). As a specialized subcontractor, DEME is able to bring its world-class dredging expertise to ensure safe navigation and operational efficiency at two of Sarawak’s most critical ports. This collaboration underscores DEME’s commitment to supporting Malaysia’s maritime infrastructure and aligns with BPHB’s long-term operational standards, guaranteeing uninterrupted cargo movement and optimal port functionality.

DEME has a long-standing presence in Bintulu, dating back to 1995 with the Capital Dredging and Stone Column Works at the LPG Terminal. This is a testament to DEME’s significant role in terms of shaping Sarawak’s port infrastructure.

For the current project, DEME has deployed its Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers Pearl River and Nile River.. Operational coordination included the setup of floating and land-based reclamation pipelines at both ports, daily progress reporting, and hydrographic survey validation to ensure precision and efficiency throughout the operation.

By restoring navigational depths and enhancing port functionality, this project further reinforces Sarawak’s position as a vital hub for industrial and LNG cargo. In this connection, DEME remains committed to delivering sustainable and innovative solutions that support both regional growth and global trade.
