Bankbusters project demonstrates how to protect and strengthen riverbanks. Making our riverbanks stronger in a natural way – that’s what the Bankbusters project is all about. Several partners, including DEME, joined forces to develop an approach that not only benefits biodiversity but also creates a nature-based line of defense against flooding and the impacts of climate change. The method combines soft dredged material with willow bundles and rock to reinforce riverbanks.
