Rotterdam 26 Launched – A New Standard in Emission-Free Dredging

Sliedrecht, February 5, 2026 – We proudly celebrated the christening and launch of “Rotterdam 26”: the very first Cygnus cutter suction dredger, built by DE Klop BV under yard number DK001.

This fully electric cutter suction dredger was built for Dekker Groep and marks a major step forward in making the Dutch dredging sector more sustainable.

Fully Emission-Free – Without Compromise

“Everyone talks about sustainability — we simply built it.”

The Cygnus operates entirely on green shore power.
No diesel. No HVO. No hydrogen. No battery containers on board.
Just plug in and get to work.

Designed for emission-free sand extraction and reconstruction works, offering maximum precision in shaping slopes, banks, and bottom profiles.

🔹 Standard dredging depth: 18 meters
🔹 Upgrade in preparation: 50 meters

Power, control, and sustainability — perfectly balanced.

Dutch Craftsmanship & Collaboration

Rotterdam 26 was fully designed and built in the Netherlands, together with Dutch professionals, partners, and suppliers.

That Dekker Groep — a front-runner in emission-free dredging — acquired this first Cygnus underlines our shared ambition: operating sustainably and with a clear focus on the future.

The Cygnus was developed “on stock” — largely completed before a final client was confirmed. At the right moment, Dekker stepped in, enabling the perfect combination of speed and customization. Through close collaboration, the vessel was fully aligned with their operational requirements — without compromising on planning or quality.

Partner & Supplier Event – February 6

One day later, we welcomed suppliers, partners, and relations at the WOW Pavilion on the grounds of the National Dredging Museum.

Contributions included:

  • Andrea Vollebregt (Vereniging van Waterbouwers) on the power of collaboration

  • Willem Jongsma (Dekker Groep) on the project in which Rotterdam 26 will be deployed

  • Edwin Naaktgeboren (Verhoef) on the technology behind fully electric dredging

  • DE Klop BV on the origin and philosophy of the Cygnus concept

Afterwards, visitors had the opportunity to view the Cygnus up close — a proud moment for everyone involved.

Building a Future-Proof Sector Together

With Rotterdam 26, DE Klop and Dekker Groep demonstrate that emission-free operations, power, precision, and quality go hand in hand.

DK001 is not only a milestone for two family-owned companies — it is also a strong signal to the sector: Sustainable innovation is not a distant vision.

And we continue — construction of the second Cygnus will begin soon.
