The Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) has inked an MoU with Water & Power Consultancy Services (India) Limited (WAPCOS) to jointly identify suitable future projects and carry out geotechnical investigation and engineering consultancy.
Areas of cooperation
The two firms will work together to explore projects in water resources, power and infrastructure, port and harbour dredging, shallow water dredging, beach nourishment, lake rehabilitation, flood management, erosion control, river morphology and other related sectors.
WAPCOS is a mini ratna PSU under the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation. The MoU was signed by Rajesh Tripathi, MD of DCIL and R.K. Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of WAPCOS in New Delhi. With DCIL planning to enter newer areas like water body rejuvenation, sand mining and inland dredging, the pact is expected to bring in synergy complimenting both the players.
Recently DCIL has been in talks with various State governments on issues of mutual interest in the field of dredging and related activities. The MoU assumes significance and is expected to be a win-win alliance for DCIL and WAPCOS.
