Anthony D Bates Partnership (ADBP), an engineering consultancy specialising in dredging and its associated fields, has welcomed David Smart to its team.
Mr Smart is a chartered civil engineer with over 40 years’ UK and international experience in the dredging and marine construction industry.
Prior to his association with ADBP, he worked for the engineering consultant WorleyParsons in London for six years, in the position of Director of Ports and Marine Terminals. Before that he worked in the dredging industry for Van Oord and Zanen Verstoep for a total of 28 years. During this period he worked in multiple positions and locations starting in project roles on various sites around the UK. Thereafter he became Managing Director for Van Oord in the UK and subsequently Area Director in Asia Pacific. His last role for Van Oord was as Global Business Development Manager for the Offshore Division.
In recent years Mr Smart has focused on the feasibility, design, tendering and supervision of port and infrastructure projects with marine, coastal, offshore and pipeline scopes and particularly those projects involving marine terminals, SPM buoys, jetties, harbours, breakwaters, landfalls, outfalls, beach nourishment, capital/maintenance dredging and rock installation works.
Mr Smart will provide leadership to ADBP’s business development activities within local and international markets and he will support individual projects with the benefit of his vast experience on marine and dredging contracts, as well as acting as an expert witness in dredging and related matters when needed.
