Damen Shipyards has reported completion and shipment of an order for 6 standard cutter suction dredgers, five of type CSD500 and 1 of type CSD450.
The client, the Mexican Navy (Secretaria de Marina), reportedly ordered the dredges earlier this year at a cost of over $20 million.
Damen claimed that โfast delivery of these dredgers was easyโ even though the units all included various options such as anchor booms, spud carriage pontoons and dredger monitoring instrumentation.
DredgeWire believes this is one of the largest dredge orders for Latin America in many years. Clearly a healthy stocking policy contributed to Damenโs success in winning this order against competition.
