When Carolina Beach Town Council meets Tuesday night, one of the items they will discuss is whether to terminate the Lake Dredging Contract.
The town suspended the project on August 29, due to issues with spoils placement at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
According to documents prepared by Town Manager Michael Cramer, the town has performed more soil studies on the material at the Wastewater Treatment Plant and the remaining soil in the lake. In order to move forward with the project, it will take up to 6 months to complete the additional permits applications and finalize another disposal location for the spoils.
The documents claim it is not fair or appropriate to continue the current contract with Civil Works Construction while working through the permitting requirements and recommends the current contract be terminated while preparations for a future phase of the Lake Dredge Project move forward.
Carolina Beach Town Council meets Tuesday night at 6:30.
