It’s been revealed the cost for emergency dredging at the Ettalong Channel has more than doubled.
Lands Minister, Paul Toole has signed off on the $660,000 contract.
That’s a whopping $410,000 extra on what was pledged earlier this month.
Around 20,000 cubic metres of sand will be removed in the operation, hoped to allow safe passage of ferries and boats in the waterway.
It’s expected to begin next week, depending on the weather.
