CLARKSTON, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District is clarifying the rules and authorized uses for recreation sites within the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley.
Within the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley, USACE only directly manages day use areas. These sites are generally open from 7:30 a.m. to sunset, unless otherwise posted. Currently, the Greenbelt Boat Ramp, Evans Pond, Golf Course Pond and Asotin Slough day use areas are closed to public use.
Camping, habitation or overnight stays are not permitted within day use areas. The use of tents and other constructs are also banned. Abandoned or cached property left within day use areas after operating hours will be subject to removal. Failure to abide by these and other posted rules may subject offenders to removal and citations.
USACE does manage several camping areas near the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley. These areas offer primitive camping with a 14-day stay limit.
There are three reservation-only campgrounds operating under lease on USACE lands within the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley. They are managed directly by the applicable lessee. More information about these sites can be obtained by contacting them directly.
