ST. PAUL, Minn. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is hosting an open house to discuss ideas and seek public comments on plans to enhance the environment at Lake Traverse and Mud Lake, near Wheaton, Minnesota, July 15, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.
The open house will be held at the Falk Park Lodge in Wheaton. The lodge is located on the northeast side of 2nd Ave. N and 3rd St. N.
The focus of the open house will be to discuss ideas to enhance the environment through potential changes to the current water control plan that is used to regulate water levels at Lake Traverse and Mud Lake. The review is a part of a nation-wide Sustainable Rivers Program that explores opportunities to adjust reservoir management to enhance habitat and water quality.
There will be two identical presentations to discuss the program at 5:45 p.m., and 7 p.m. The public is invited to meet with Corps staff to discuss the plans and share their ideas during the remainder of the event. The public can also provide comments by sending a letter to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,
St. Paul District, ATTN: RPEDN-Planning, 180 5th St. E, St. Paul, MN 55101, or via email to TraverseMudWM@usace.army.mil. All comments should be submitted no later than Aug. 31. Corps staff will compile the comments and write a report that will outline the potential next steps. Any recommended changes would include another public comment period.
