NEW ORLEANS — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, recently awarded contracts for constructing two segments of the Comite River Diversion project. The Channel Segment 2b contract will construct approximately 2,427 feet of the diversion while the Comite River Diversion Structure contract will construct approximately 2,500 feet.
The Channel Segment 2b and the Comite River Diversion Structure contracts were awarded to Precision Construction, LLC, of Carencro, LA, on September 16, 2025. The contract amount for Channel Segment 2b is $13,549,362.27. The contract amount for the Comite River Diversion Structure is $53,802,267.87 which includes the base and option work. Work for both contracts will be performed in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Scotty Autin, Commander of the New Orleans District. “We are pleased to announce the award of two contracts—this time for the Channel Segment 2b and Comite River Diversion Structure—as we continue to move forward to fulfill our commitment to completing this critical project for the businesses and residents in the area.”
The Comite River Diversion Project is located in East Baton Rouge Parish, LA in the southern portion of the Comite River Basin. The Project will provide urban flood risk reduction from rainfall events/headwater flooding for residents in this watershed. The primary project features include a control structure at the Comite River, a control structure at Lilly Bayou, three control rock chutes at the intersections of the diversion channel with White, Cypress and Bayou Baton Rouge Bayous, clearing and snagging of each bayou, two railroad bridges, four highway bridges, and one parish road bridge. The Non-Federal Sponsor, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) is responsible for the construction of three highway and one railroad bridge.
