Consider Increasing Yuzhniy Port Depths to 21 Meters

Posted on April 10, 2018

SE “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority” considers a possibility of dredging water area of Yuzhniy seaport to 21 meters, reports UkrAgroConsult.

“Large-scale fleet gets more and more preferable in the world. Now exporters from India and Brazil are building a fleet of more than 400.000 TEU. This leads to the necessity of deepening deeper water ports. Today, we in particular analyze the situation on dredging of “Yuzhniy” port to 21 meters”, – said the head of USPA, Raivis Veckagans.

According to Veckagans, the possibility of increasing depths correlates with perspective cargo flows in Turkish direction. Turkish President Erdogan announced another channel to be built until 2023, which will allow handling vessels up to 300 KMT.
