The town is making upgrades to its Nagog Pond Water Treatment Plant.
CONCORD, MA — Concord is moving along with its upgrades to the Nagog Pond Water Treatment Plant.
The town will begin deep water work this fall to replace the intake pipe in Nagog Pond that supplies water to the treatment plant off Skyline Drive.
The goal of the project is to make comprehensive improvements and upgrades to the existing surface water supply known as Nagog Pond. The pond has been utilized by the town as a water supply since the early 1900s. As part of these improvements, the town intends to replace the existing 16-inch cast iron intake pipe with a new 16‐inch inside diameter high density polyethylene intake pipe.
The proposed work includes two phases of construction. The first phase will include dredging performed along a portion of the pond bottom (the cove) once it has been dewatered and the second phase will include fusing and floating the pipe along the water surface, then submerging it into position along the pond bottom.
