The Harbor Management Commission voted at a special meeting held on Thursday night to submit the second draft of the Harbor Management Plan to town and state officials for approval.

The meeting was scheduled to talk over changes made to the plan during the last couple of weeks, said Lile Gibbons, a commissioner who has led the subcommittee drafting the plan.

The decision to vote on it came after the commissioners in attendance felt they had all the information they needed to make a decision, Gibbons said Friday.

“I think everybody was appreciative of the time spent and the fact that they could ask questions and contribute. We didn’t know last night if we were going to be able to approve it or not. It turned out that the commissioners had all read through the draft and had all made comments. It wasn’t a surprise to them,” Gibbons said. “This wasn’t going to be a time where we were going to take public input. There were a couple people that emailed us with questions, and we did answer them all.”

Commission members had said in recent meetings that they would vote on the plan at their regular December meeting, which will be Dec. 21.
