The Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority of Louisiana (CPRA) has applied to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for permits and permission to construct, maintain and operate the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion (MBSD) project on the west bank of the Mississippi River in Plaquemines Parish.
In compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act, USACE has prepared an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to analyze the potential impacts of the proposed project and a range of reasonable alternatives on the natural and human environment. Information in the EIS will help decision makers, public officials, and citizens understand the impacts of the proposed MBSD Project and its alternatives before any permitting decisions are made.
A 30-day public review and comment period for the Final EIS will begin on Sept. 23, 2022 and end on Oct. 24, 2022. All comments submitted electronically, by phone, or by mail via the U.S. Postal Service on or before Oct. 24, 2022 will be considered.
