Cohasset’s harbor dredging project has been delayed due to the high seas forecast.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is managing the project, which was slated to start today (Thursday, Oct. 1) and continue through the end of January – dredging portions of the federal navigation channel in Cohasset Harbor.
The work involves dredging approximately 62,000 cubic yards of sandy sediment by hydraulic dredge; the dredged material will be pumped via underwater pipeline to Sandy Beach and will be used to replenish parts of the beach eroded from recent storms.
Sandy Beach and its parking lot will be closed until Feb. 1, 2016, or earlier if the project is completed before then.
