Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) recently laid the keel of India’s largest dredger, DCI Dredge Godavari. This Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD), with a hopper capacity of 12,000 m3, is being built for the Dredging Corporation of India in collaboration with Royal IHC, Netherlands, one of the world leaders in terms of dredger design and construction.
Once commissioned, the 127m long dredger will be “the most sophisticated and technologically advanced dredger ever built in India.” The vessel will, furthermore, significantly enhance the capability of DCI to improve access to all major ports in India.
CSL also recently commissioned its new International Ship Repair Facility (ISRF) at the shipyard. The first vessel to be lifted at the new docking area was the Lakshadweep ferry HSC Parali. This marked a significant milestone for CSL, as well as India, on the shiprepair front.
