Coastway is a perfect fit in Oman
Our trailing suction hopper dredger Coastway recently started work on a new extensive dredging project in Sohar, Oman. And it is no coincidence that this vessel sailed to Oman to start the project, which requires the removal of some 4 million cubic meters of sand to make space for a new LNG terminal in the existing SOHAR Port and Freezone. Because with its width of 23 meters and very limited draft, the Coastway is ideally suited for dredging in the shallow waters of the Gulf of Oman.
Boskalis also mobilized a second trailing suction hopper dredger Willem van Oranje for this extensive project. Later, the hopper dredgers will be joined by the backhoe dredger Colbart. In this way, Boskalis will create the necessary space for the expansion of the port of Sohar in the coming months, allowing it to set up new LNG-related activities.
