Cleveland Dredged Material Management Plan Scoping Information Packet, including 20 years of work and up to 6.7mm yd3

Posted on June 2, 2025

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is initiating a study to develop a 20-year plan for the maintenance dredging and management of dredged sediment from the Cleveland Harbor federal navigation project. This plan will cover the period from 2025 to 2044 and anticipate the management of approximately 4.5-6.7 million cubic yards of material.

Our objectives for this DMMP are to:

–    Provide sufficient dredged material placement capacity to meet critical dredging needs at Cleveland Harbor.
–    Increase the resiliency of dredging operations to support emergency response and address any backlog.
–    Maximize the beneficial use of dredged material whenever possible.

This information session is an opportunity to learn about the project purpose, the DMMP study process and timeline, and the initial range of alternative plans we are considering for further study. More importantly, we want to hear your thoughts and feedback! Your input is vital to ensuring we develop a plan that best serves the needs of the Cleveland Harbor and the surrounding community.
