City Of Bacoor Meets With Dpwh To Discuss Infrastructure Projects And Flood Mitigation Efforts

CITY OF BACOOR MEETS WITH DPWH TO DISCUSS INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS AND FLOOD MITIGATION EFFORTS

Strike Conference Room – The City Government of Bacoor, headed by Mayor Strike B. Revilla, convened a meeting with DPWH Engr. Donnie D. Cuna, OIC Office of the District Engineer Cavite Sub District Engineering Office DPWH IV-A, to discuss ongoing and future infrastructure projects within the city, with a strong focus on flood mitigation.

The meeting was attended by Mayor Strike B. Revilla and District Engineer Donnie D. Cuna, along with other representatives from the DPWH.

Key topics discussed included:

– Salinas Bridge: Updates on the progress of the Salinas Bridge connecting to River Drive and Imus Toklong Road.

– Street Lights: Updates on the replacement of defective street lights, with new street lights expected to arrive soon.

– DPWH Projects: General updates on all DPWH projects within the City of Bacoor.

– River Dredging and Revetment: Discussions on the necessary dredging of rivers and revetment projects, particularly the Imus River. Mayor Strike expressed his desire to divert water to the larger Imus River to alleviate flooding in other areas. He noted that 2.6 kilometers of the Imus and Mertizo River still need revetment, requiring an estimated 320 million pesos in funding. An additional 6.99 kilometers of the Zapote River also require revetment, estimated at 840 million pesos. Only 560 meters remain for the Maliksi River project.

– Drainage System: A request to complete the city’s drainage system, which is currently fragmented.

The meeting served as an opportunity to update the Mayor on the actual data regarding drainage, river, and dredging projects in Bacoor. Mayor Strike appealed to President Bongbong Marcos Jr. and Secretary Vince Dizon to reconsider revetment projects in the City of Bacoor, emphasizing their importance in flood control.
