Governor Christie returns to work today after a week-long vacation to announce progress on a flood-management project in Somerset County.
Christie is scheduled to make the announcement this morning at Billian Legion Park in Bound Brook, along with Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Bob Martin.
The announcement will focus on the Green Brook flood risk management project. Details of the announcement were not made available, but the area has a notorious history for severe and sometimes devastating flooding, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The corps and DEP have worked together for years on projects to lessen the flooding and damage it causes.
The announcement comes as major flooding in Louisiana has left thousands stranded and in shelters.
Christie visited the area last year, announcing that the state had bought more than 100 homes subject to damage and flooding from the nearby Millstone River.
