Chinese shipbuilder Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering has won an order to build liquefied petroleum tankers for Germany’s Hartmann Group.

The contract includes the construction of three 5000 cubic meter LPG ships and additional order for two vessels.

CIMC SOE, which is a unit of CIMC ENRIC, claims that the vessels will be the world’s first dual-fuelled full-pressure LPG carriers.

The vessels will feature MAN’s LPG dual-fuelled main engine.

CIMC SOE said the deal was signed via a video conference due to the current situation related to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.

The two companies previously joined forces on a number of projects including the liquefied ethylene gas (LEG) carrier Gaschem Beluga.
