China’s CHEC to Start Dredging Works at Yuzhny Port Mid-July

Posted on July 11, 2017

China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC), which won a tender to carry out dredging works at the Yuzhny port, has sent first vessels to Ukraine, Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan has said.

“In the middle of July works will start and will last until late March 2018,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

“Who forgets I recall that we have annulled a tender for UAH 1 billion where a doubtful company was selected and announced new one. The Chinese company, which is in the top five international companies, became the winner. Savings on the two dredging works tenders was over UAH 400 million. Vessels are in Ukraine,” the minister said.

As reported, state-owned enterprise Ukrainian Sea Port Authority on May 18, 2017 signed a contract with China Harbour Engineering company Ltd (CHEC) to carry out dredging works at the Yuzhny seaport (Odesa region).

On May 25, 2017 the authority signed the second contract with CHEC for reconstruction of the approach channel of the Yuzhny port.
