The Cherry Grove dredging project is underway after experiencing short delays during Hurricane Matthew.
On Friday, one of two new dredges that arrived in North Myrtle Beach at the end of October was working near the “E” Canal, located between 42nd and 43rd Avenues North.
The second dredge was working several blocks south in the Minor Channel.
Officials said the dredges work in such a way that dredged material flows through a pipeline that winds along the southern edge of the marsh, onto land, under Little River Road, and ultimately ends up in a spoils basin.
Currently, officials plan to dredge from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. However, that schedule is subject to change based on operating conditions.
