In the coming weeks, we will be introducing the various non-paper sessions included in the Dredging Days 2026 programme. This time, the session on surveying.
Join us for a focused, practice-driven workshop on survey specifications in dredging projects—where small ambiguities can become big claims. Two concise scene‑setting talks will frame the issue from both sides: a survey expert from a major dredging contractor will outline common pitfalls in acquisition, processing, and reporting; a hydraulic laboratory specialist will highlight client/design expectations, model-calibration needs, and how mismatched tolerances amplify risk. We’ll then dive into interactive discussion using real-world examples and scenarios to learn where disputes originate. Together we’ll identify “low-hanging fruit” for immediate improvement—clarity in specifications, traceable verification steps, and pragmatic test protocols—and shape a shortlist of topics for future research, from uncertainty communication to automated compliance checks. Join in to share experiences, challenge assumptions, and co-create a sharper, claim-resistant approach to specifying and verifying hydrographic survey parameters.
