Celebrating Engineering Week at Orion – Day Two

In celebration of National Engineers Week (February 16 – February 22), we are highlighting projects to showcase our Engineers’ achievements and contributions to the Orion team.

Today, we are highlighting Stephen Walton, P.E. (Project Manager/Engineer of Record), Russ Amlin (Senior Designer), Heath Crittenden, P.E. (Staff Engineer) and their team who worked on the Targa SDK #2 Design and Build. This project was broken into two phases to allow continued operation of the existing dock and facilities.

1. This feat required a coordinated effort between Orion, Schneider Engineering (SEC) , and the associated topsides design/build company H&M Industrial EPC (H&M) and Targa Operations. The first phase was to demolish the current approach and, in its place, construct an approach ramp with a landing platform. The second phase of the design/build process included an aspect that was not originally intended. Due to the nature of the existing dock and the need for Targa Resources to keep it in operation during most of the construction of phase two, SEC was tasked to design a temporary stability system for the existing dock. We completed the tasks within time and budget. Great job to the SEC team on this project completion!
