The first IHS DPC Innovations Awards gala dinner was held in London last week, to recognise innovation and outstanding achievement in the dredging and ports construction industry. Many projects, people, and organisations, were honoured for their contributions at a glittering gala dinner on the 10th November at the London Marriott in Grosvenor Square, London.
Of the awards given on the night, CEDA was particularly pleased to be able to honour past-President, Anders Jensen of the Danish Hydraulic Institute-DHI, with the first CEDA Lifetime Achievement Award, for his services to CEDA and the industry.
The CEDA Lifetime Achievement Award recognises an individual who has had a significant – and long-term – impact on the field of dredging in his or her professional career. The winner will also have made an important contribution to the advancement of CEDA and will be still professionally active. The CEDA Board of Directors have the honour of choosing the winner.
CEDA President, Polite Laboyrie said, “The great number of CEDA members, who through their drive and unselfish commitment have contributed to CEDA’s success throughout the decades, have made choosing the receiver of the CEDA Lifetime Achievement Award difficult; especially for this inaugural award. The CEDA Board has made the nomination criteria extremely stringent.”
On behalf of the CEDA Board, General Manager Anna Csiti presented the sparkling trophy to Anders.She said that in Anders,”.. the Board valued his outstanding and enthusiastic contribution to CEDA’s work, the vast amount of knowledge and extensive experience he brought to the organisation on all aspects of dredging, and the commitment and motivation he has shown during his long-term involvement in CEDA.”
“As a truly independent association for the uniquely broad-based dredging community and associated stakeholders, CEDA has an essential role as provider of objective dredging knowledge and it does a commendable job of it. I am very proud and honoured to receive this Award. I will certainly remain involved in CEDA and will do my best to help in its important work” – said Anders Jensen.
DPC Senior Editor, Lisa Maher, said of the Awards, “For over 40 years, IHS Dredging and Port Construction magazine has been involved with, and reported on, the industry – the people, the vessels, the companies, the projects, the equipment, and the technology. In a world where recession and regulation has profound effects on the industry, DPC believes it is important to recognise those who change the industry through new ideas, processes, technology, or equipment.”
