The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New England District has contracted the Cashman’s dredge “the Mighty Quinn” who is currently performing maintenance work of the Kennebec River. This work is performed every 2-3 years and is funded by the U.S. Navy.
The work consists of hydraulically dredging sand waves from the Kennebec River to 31 feet contract depth plus 2 feet of over depth (33 feet total depth).
#FunFact Maintenance of the Kennebec River at this location allows for U.S. Navy ships to navigate down river from Bath Iron Works.
