The company responsible for the dredging of New Bedford harbor will pay penalties to the EPA for allegedly violating the Ocean Dumping Act.
The EPA says Cashman Dredging and Marine Contracting, along with it’s joint venture Cashman-Weeks NB, dumped dredged materials outside of designated locations in Portland, Maine and New Bedford. The agency alleges Cashman Dredging dumped dredged material 1.4 miles from a designated dumping area in Portland,while Cashman-Weeks NB dumped material three miles from designated coordinates.
