Work was completed ahead of schedule.

The beach at Rochester’s Cascade Lake is now open seven days a week.

The Parks and Recreation Department said Tuesday that mining activities at the lake are complete, making way for daily beach operations through Labor Day.

“We are excited to be able to have the beach and water open to residents and visitors any day of the week,” Recreation Supervisor Ben Boldt said. “Cascade Lake continues to be a well trafficked park and we are happy it is being enjoyed.”

Cascade Lake Beach is free; there are no lifeguards on duty. The Park and Recreation Department encourages those at the beach and lake use the “buddy” system, and parents are responsible for their children.

Mathy Construction, a previous land owner that retained the rights to complete mining operations, holds a related permit that was set to end in 2023, but work was completed ahead of schedule.

Some restoration work must completed and the large sand pile on site will be removed in the next year or two.
