Cardwell Beach Nourishment and Restoration Activities to begin

Posted on March 6, 2024

Council will be undertaking beach nourishment and restoration works at Cardwell, north of the Jetty, to replenish sand and rehabilitate the erosion site from Monday 11 March.

Works will consist of relocating approximately 3000m3 of sand sourced from the current shore protection structure via the road to the section of beach between Tsakisiris Street to Scott Street. To ensure public safety, beach access will be limited around the works site when nourishment activities are taking place.

Council thanks the community for their patience and cooperation during these important works.

This project is funded by the Queensland Government’s QCoast2100 Coastal Hazard Adaptation Program, supporting Queensland councils to improve the long-term resilience and sustainability of coastal ecosystems, foreshores and vital assets.
