Canada launches pre-qualification for first offshore wind auction

Posted on October 20, 2025

The tender has been allowed to proceed after the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator received joint strategic direction to formally initiate the process.

It concerns three areas in the Canada-Nova Scotia offshore zone, with exact locations yet to be defined as the call for information seeks to properly identify them.

The energy regulator is asking rights holders and local indigenous groups for their feedback on the proposed development areas, as well as the the public and fishing industry.

This feedback will inform the eventual call for bids, and only developers that have been pre-approved by the regulator will be allowed to bid.
