The long-awaited Deltaville Broad Creek dredging project has started, reported an official of Seaward Marine, the firm that was hired by the county to dredge the creek.
The county has been awarded a $2.3 million Virginia Port Authority grant for Seaward Marine to dredge up to 28,300 cubic yards at a cost of $52 per cubic yard of materials from Broad Creek and the Rappahannock River. The project is estimated to cost $1,471,600.
Supervisors are hopeful the work is completed as soon as possible as to have minimal interruption during Deltaville spring and summer boating season, said Walker.
