The Brazilian government announced a new auction date and reduced the number of leasing contracts to be offered for port terminals.
It will now offer three contracts at an auction in August on São Paulo stock exchange B3, the ports and airports ministry said in a statement. The exact date has not yet been decided.
The government had planned to offer six contracts in May, but postponed the auction due to the devastating rains and floods in Rio Grande do Sul state.
The terminals that will be offered are REC08, REC09 and REC10 in Recife’s port, in Pernambuco state. The contracts will demand total investments of around 60mn reais (US$11.5mn).
The six that the government had originally planned to offer were REC04, REC08, REC09 and REC10, as well as RIG10 in Rio Grande do Sul and RDJ06 in Rio de Janeiro state.
The ministry did not say why the number of terminals had been reduced.
