The Brazilian government has postponed the concession auctions for three port terminals.
Set to take place on August 9, the auctions will now be hold on August 13, the infrastructure ministry said in a statement. It did not provide any reason for the postponement.
The bidding for the 25-year concessions will be held at the São Paulo stock exchange.
Companies and consortiums interested in the assets must present their proposals on August 6.
Two of the terminals are in port of Santos (pictured), which is South America’s busiest port, and are used for fuels, fertilizers and salt. The third is a pulp terminal in the port of Paranaguá, in Paraná state.
The auctions are part of the government’s investment partnerships program (PPI) and the estimated combined investment for the three terminals is 433mn reais (US$117mn).
The government of business-friendly President Jair Bolsonaro is holding a series of concessions to attract private sector players to the infrastructure sector due to fiscal restrictions.
