Boskalis: We’re almost getting used to it…

Posted on January 26, 2026

𝗪𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝘁…

Long, wide, tall, and heavy. These four keywords sum up just about every cargo carried on our semi-submersible heavy transport vessels. And they certainly apply to the cargo that was recently transported by our Transshelf. In the port of Cape Town, South Africa, the floating dry dock Dock Titan from Port Réunion was loaded for transport to the island of Réunion, east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean.

With a length of 127 meters and a width of 34 meters, the dry dock fits perfectly on the 132-meter-long and 40-meter-wide deck of the Transshelf. However, to make room for the 4,327-ton Dock Titan, one of the casings on the aft deck had to be moved.

The floating dry dock from Port Réunion is already the fifth of its kind transported by Boskalis in the past year. We have delivered floating dry docks to the United States, Turkey, the Bahamas (all with our BOKA Vanguard), and Canada (with our Mighty Servant 3). Soon, our White Marlin and Black Marlin will also be deployed to transport a floating dry dock. Yes – we’re almost getting used to it…
