The past months, our semi-submersible heavy transport vessels Black Marlin and Blue Marlin showed their unique capabilities offshore Taiwan. In total, the vessels transported 66 suction bucket jackets from Taichung Port to the 920 MW offshore wind farms Greater Changhua 2b and 4 in the Taiwan Strait, where the turbine foundations were directly installed on the seabed. Both vessels sailed back and forth from the port to the offshore wind farm. On board the Black Marlin, up to three jacket foundations could be transported per trip, whilst the larger Blue Marlin transported four suction bucket jackets at a time.
A special feature of the construction of Ørsteds offshore wind farm is Boskalis’ involvement with as many as six vessels. In addition to the Black Marlin and Blue Marlin, our heavy transport vessels Mighty Servant 3 and Transshelf delivered crucial components for the offshore wind farm, and our construction support vessels BOKA Atlantic and BOKA Pride are currently still active for Greater Changhua 2b and 4.
