To tow heavy offshore structures from one location to another, the deployment of a single powerful oceangoing tug is not always sufficient. Although our vessels boast the bollard pull necessary to tow an FSO across the ocean, we almost always opt for the reliability of two vessels working in tandem.
This was recently the case with the towage of the FSO from Singapore to Aliaga, Turkey. Our oceangoing tugs BOKA Summit and BOKA Glacier carried out this tandem tow, offering notable advantages. Not only did this method increase transport speed – ensuring the cargo reached its destination more quickly – but it also enhanced the voyage’s reliability through the added redundancy of having two vessels.
With the arrival of our vessels in Turkey, they completed yet another remarkable transport – one of many, in fact. A glance at the Boskalis timeline reveals a history of impressive transports accomplished with regularity, whether by wet tow with our ocean-going tugs or dry transport aboard one of our semi-submersible heavy transport vessels. As a versatile maritime service provider, we take great pride in contributing to fulfilling our clients’ aspirations in many ways. And we are committed to continuing this tradition.
