In about a year and a half, Boskalis towed three brand-new FPSOs across the globe. With our powerful oceangoing tugs BOKA Sherpa, BOKA Alpine, BOKA Fulmar, BOKA Glacier, BOKA Defender and BOKA Expedition, we transported – in varying combinations of tugs – the 334-meter-long Sepetiba, the 351-meter-long Almirante Tamandaré and most recently the 334-meter-long Alexandre de Gusmão from Asia to their final destination offshore Brazil. Their total length: exactly 1,029 meters.

Each new FPSO was transported by means of a so-called triple tow, connecting three powerful oceangoing tugs to the FPSO. Thanks to their bollard pull ranging from 205 to 300 tons, the vessels can jointly tow the cargo in a stable and safe manner to its final destination.

We thank our client SBM Offshore for their cooperation during these three Brazilian triple tows and thank the crews of the vessels and the project team for their efforts.
