With our cable-laying vessel BOKA Ocean and our multipurpose offshore vessel Ndeavor, our colleagues completed a great performance and next step at Ørsted’s offshore wind farm Borkum Riffgrund 3 in the German part of the North Sea. Over the past few months, the vessels have worked on the installation and burial of dozens of inter-array cables.
Special about this cable-laying project is the fact that the BOKA Ocean was a pipe-laying vessel when Boskalis acquired the vessel a year ago. Subsequently it was converted into a state-of-the-art cable-laying vessel by our colleagues from the Fleet Management and Central Fleet Support departments. And our Ndeavor also had to be converted for the Borkum Riffgrund 3 project, as last year it served as a support vessel for our colleagues from SMIT Salvage during the salvage of the FSO Safer in Yemen. With combined efforts, the vessels were prepared as perfectly as possible for their new assignment, which they then executed with élan and dedication with a successful installation as the stunning result.
We will return to Ørsted’s wind farm next year to install the final cables.
