Recently, more than 2,400 solar panels were installed on the roof of the premises of Boskalis subsidiary Cofra B.V. in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Together, these panels are expected to generate some 1.2 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of green electricity per year. This will make their vertical drainage facility largely self-sufficient. Together with the 1,700 solar panels installed last year on the roof of our service center in the Waalhaven, Rotterdam, this marks an important step toward realizing our sustainability ambitions for our offices, facilities and distribution centers in the Netherlands.
In recent years, solar panels have already been installed on the roofs of the buildings on our campus in Papendrecht, our yard in Capelle aan den IJssel and on the roof of our distribution center in Vlaardingen among others. Including the newly installed panels, the over 11,600 solar panels at our premises in the Netherlands generate more than 4 million kWh of green power per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of 1,600 households. Achieving this new milestone, however, does not mean that we have reached the finish line. There are still plenty of plans to install more solar panels, both in the Netherlands and abroad.
