Earlier this year, our powerful oceangoing tugs BOKA Sweeper, BOKA Keeper, and BOKA Defender have successfully towed the FPSO Bacalhau from Singapore to Brazil, marking another milestone in our expertise in long-distance towage.

Following the successful tows of the FPSOs Sepetiba, Almirante Tamandaré, and Alexandre de Gusmão to Brazil, this is the third Brazilian triple tow we have executed in a relatively short period. A unique aspect of this operation was the ability of our three 300-ton bollard pull tugs to complete the nearly 9,000-nautical-mile journey with just one stopover. In Mauritius, the vessels were refueled before embarking on the second leg of the voyage—rounding the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa and crossing the Atlantic Ocean to their final destination.

Upon arrival in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil, the 370-meter-long FPSO Bacalhau was accurately kept in position by our three tugs and a fourth Brazilian tug, while Boskalis’ construction support vessel BOKA Sub C completed the mooring process. This successful tow and installation – under supervision of SIA/Subsea 7 – reinforces our position as a leading provider of turnkey solutions for mega FPSO projects, demonstrating our ability to execute complex operations with precision and efficiency, together with our partners.

We thank MODEC, Subsea7, and Equinor for their trust and the project team and vessel crews for their dedication during this project.
