Usually, we share photos of our semi-submersible heavy transport vessels when they are carrying impressive loads. But the deck is also often used as a ‘jigsaw puzzle’ for the transport of multiple cargoes at the same time. This was the case on board our Black Marlin, which sailed from China to Freetown in Sierra Leone with two barges, two tugboats, and a crane barge.
The challenge during the loading and unloading of multiple units is the fact that they also begin to float at the same time as the Black Marlin is submerging. However, thanks to good coordination between the colleagues involved and the tugs present, the various cargoes were kept in position, ensuring that unloading in Freetown went smoothly.
